Welcome to our site.
The BSL aims to develop its Ladies division into the premier recreational soccer league for all adult women 19+ in the Halton area. Our goal is to unite all female recreational players and allow our ladies to play in a friendly atmosphere with confidence and fun regardless of ability. At the moment facilities under lights are in short supply but we hope we can grow as they become available.
We started the 2004 season with 4 teams. In 2006 we doubled to 8 teams and this year though slightly unbalanced we are delighted to have 11 starting line-ups
Please feel free to browse our site and should you require more information the ladies and gents whose information is on the site will be happy to help OR contact burlsl@cogeco.ca
We understand that there is a need for more facilities for all but where the mens leagues in the area have lots of choices throughout the region, the adult female player is sorely under represented. We believe that in the next couple of years the female game will explode as university and college players come home after school.
We are delighted to say that we have reached an agreement with Boston Pizza to support our ladies division. We hope we can grow our relationship over the coming months and years. Many thanks to Cathy and all at Boston Pizza for their enthusiasm in making this work.
We are now almost half way through our season and unlike last year so far we have not had the weather problems cancelling games. I have been very pleasently suprised at the improvement of all our teams from last year. They have all stepped up to match the spark, speed and stamina of our newest youngest team and what I had perceived to be a reletively "easy" season for Storm is not turning out to be. Despite some of the score lines I really do not think there is a great deal of difference between the caliber of our teams. Congratulations to our team convenors for their recruiting skills
Our ladies seem to be once again enjoying and revelling in the "full contact" game we play which includes slide tackling and legal contact to the fullest understanding of the laws. We are proud to provide three officials per game who treat the players with respect as players and do not gender compensate. This results, we find, in a much more open, flowing game with none of the friction sometimes experienced in other leagues between officials and players.
As of this date we are actively searching for other sponsorship and are currently in negotiations to start a winter division. We are also hoping to take on 6 or 8 more teams next year as teams, players and facilities become available to us. This will mean the possibility of opening up either a second open age division or as seems to be the consensus around the league a new O34 division strictly for our O34 players.
If you are interested in putting in a team for next season or are interested as an individual please feel free to contact burlsl@cogeco.ca
Thanks to all sponsors convenors, coaches and players who have contributed to making this our best season ever ................... so far.
Congratulations to team convenors Rachael and Sarah on their new arrivals ( team members for 2026 squads!!!! ) and all the best to Jane and Sue for their up coming journeys into parent hood. ( BOYS !!!! no good to us !!!! :-0 )
